Często zadawane pytania

How is a car loan instalment calculated?

The equal instalment uses the annuity formula on the amount financed (car price minus down payment). If you add a balloon payment, the instalment is reduced because part of the principal is deferred to a single lump sum at the end.

What is a balloon payment?

A balloon payment is a large final instalment — a percentage of the car price paid in one lump sum at the end of the loan. It lowers your monthly instalment but you must repay (or refinance) the balloon amount at the end.

Does the calculator show the APR?

No — it uses the nominal interest rate. The bank’s APR will be higher because it includes commission and insurance. Always compare offers by APR, not the nominal rate.

How much down payment do I need?

It depends on the lender, but a higher down payment reduces the amount financed and therefore the total interest. Move the slider to see the effect on your instalment.
